A Sketchbook Wall Comes to Life

Long before the doors of the 2025 China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) opened in Guangzhou, the Modern Z team was already at work inside the booth. Photographs from the setup phase show the team assembling and fine-tuning a dark timber table frame on the central white platform, adjusting every joint and surface before a single visitor arrived. The booth’s design story started on the walls: a large black line-drawing wall sketched out armchairs, dining chairs, bar stools, coffee tables, dining tables and sofas in a hand-drawn style, while a poster on the opposite wall presented the “DINING TABLE SET” story — a light marble-top dining table with four burnt-orange, vertically slotted back dining chairs on dark tapered legs, complete with a QR code and contact details for visitors to scan. The sketchbook aesthetic made the display feel like a designer’s working studio rather than a conventional showroom, and it set a clear tone for everything that followed.

Leisure Seating in the Spotlight

Once the show opened, the central white platform became the star of the booth. A series of leisure chairs stood side by side like pieces in a curated collection: a round armchair in white fabric with brown polka dots, a sculptural armchair with a green-and-white palm-leaf pattern, and a lime green round armchair on four cylindrical legs. Beside them, a grey woven wide swivel chair with a gold base invited visitors to take a seat and try the motion for themselves. Above the platform, the “LEISURE SOFA” product panel displayed fabric options in green, brown, navy, orange, charcoal and beige, making it easy for buyers to compare finishes at a glance. Around the platform, moss green low round stools, a polka-dot armchair and a cream round-top side table with ball-shaped legs completed the vignette, while a bright orange three-seat sofa placed just behind served as a strong color anchor for the whole zone.

Dining Sets, Styled for Real Conversations

Two complete dining sets gave the booth its practical, lived-in contrast to the gallery-style seating displays. The first paired a grey marble-effect table with black legs and six dark grey fabric dining chairs; the second used a white table with light grey fabric chairs. Styled with the finishing touches a real dining room would carry, the sets showed buyers exactly how the pieces relate to one another — and how quickly a full dining program can be specified from a single display. The tables and chairs echoed the “DINING TABLE SET” wall poster, so visitors could move from inspiration on the wall to a tangible set on the floor within a few steps, sitting down to test the chairs before a conversation even started.

Talking Comfort at the Booth

Throughout the show, the lounge corner was where conversations happened. In the orange terracotta L-shaped sofa area, a visitor in a white jacket settled into the sofa while a colleague took a grey swivel chair, with a Modern Z team member standing beside them to answer questions. The relaxed, seated format is exactly why we build a proper lounge zone into every booth: it lets buyers experience the comfort of the furniture firsthand while discussing specifications face to face. These quiet, focused exchanges — sitting in the actual pieces, asking practical questions about fabrics and finishes — were the real heart of the show, and they carried on from opening to the final hour.
