A Booth That Feels Like a Showroom

At the 2023 China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) in Guangzhou, the Modern Z booth was designed to feel less like a trade stand and more like a walk-through showroom. A white brand wall anchored the space, carrying the Modern Z logo, the company name in both Chinese and English, and a collage of product photography that ranged from single-piece shots on white backgrounds to a lifestyle image of a curved white sofa with a small grey pedestal side table, an orange woven armchair and minimal wall decor. The collage worked like a printed catalog on the wall, letting visitors scan the range at a glance before they ever touched a piece of furniture. On the floor, a black reception counter sat at the center of the action, holding stacked brochures, name cards and water bottles — everything a visitor needs for a first conversation. Black metal display stands nearby carried a brown cone-shaped wooden lamp, a gold sunburst metal sculpture and three large printed catalogs, turning small accessories into focal points of their own.

Signature Chairs and Statement Pieces

Furniture was, of course, the main event. A large white boucle armchair in the foreground offered an immediate invitation to sit, and it was joined by a round white coffee table, a light yellow round chair, a white round stool and a terracotta armchair that together formed a complete lounge vignette. A second pair of white boucle armchairs flanked a small white marble-top round table with gold column legs, showing how the same fabric story can anchor a different arrangement. Across the booth, a bright orange deep-arc single armchair stood out against the white architecture, with a peach-and-pink fabric armchair behind it for contrast. The display stands added the finishing details: a red rabbit-shaped chair and a white mushroom-shaped lamp turned the edges of the booth into playful, camera-ready moments, while a gold vertical ribbed sculpture on a transparent acrylic base echoed the material language of the lamps on show.

Catalogs, Samples and Easy Conversations

No trade show booth works without materials, and ours were always within reach. Brochures with the Modern Z logo and company details sat stacked on glass and black display surfaces, with name cards laid out on a black tray beside them. A member of the team stood at the display table with a clipboard and brochures, walking visitors through the product wall and the pieces on the floor, while guests sat on the low round chairs to page through the catalogs at their own pace. The central display table itself became a talking point: a gold-column stand with a round top and a large ball base held a handwritten sample card, and a modern table lamp with a gold neck and white marble cylindrical base sat on the black shelf behind it, giving visitors plenty to look at — and plenty to ask about.

Visitors of All Kinds, One Warm Welcome

The busiest moments were the friendliest. Around the display table, a booth representative in a white shirt and glasses explained the collection to a small group that included a girl in dark clothes holding her mother’s hand and a visitor in a striped shirt — a reminder that CIFF brings families and professionals alike through the aisles. Elsewhere, a visitor in a blue mask paused to study a brochure, a woman in a white jacket with “Modern Z Furniture” on the back moved between displays, and staff members with clipboards kept notes as they spoke. Every one of these exchanges was unhurried and face to face: the way product questions are best answered, with the actual pieces right beside the conversation.
